Ron Jones, founder and Executive Chairman of independent television production company Tinopolis and Dr Drew Nelson, co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of IQE, a market leader in semi-conductor materials supply, have been appointed with immediate effect.

Ron Jones and Drew Nelson bring extensive commercial, industrial and governance experience to the Board of Enfis. They join existing Non-Executive Directors, Enfis Chairman, Professor Ian Cameron, Simon Gibson and Dr John Thynne.

Earlier this year Tinopolis successfully listed on the London Stock Exchange’s Alternative Investment Market (AIM) in a move led by Ron Jones. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant and was appointed a partner with Arthur Andersen before founding Tinopolis in 1989. Tinopolis is one of the United Kingdom’s largest independent production houses.

Drew Nelson is an electrical and electronic engineer who received his PhD from Sheffield University in 1979 for his pioneering research into semi conductor technology. He was a leading member of the original team that operated the EPSRC’s Central Facility for Compound Semiconductors. Subsequently he worked for BT at its Martlesham Heath research facility before helping to found Epitaxial Products International which was renamed as IQE in 1999 following the acquisition of the US corporation Quantum Electronic Devices. IQE listed on the London Stock Exchange in 2000 and has received the Queen’s Export Achievement Award. Dr Nelson was elected a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering in 2004.

“I am delighted to announce the appointment of Ron and Drew, which comes in the wake of a very successful recent funding round,” said Professor Cameron, “both are immensely experienced businessmen and have made substantial contributions to generating business growth and overseeing public offerings. Enfis has proven leadership in light emitting diode technology. Their talent will enable us to maintain this momentum and execute our growth strategy.”

Enfis is an acknowledged leader in the development and manufacture of high power LED modules. Its devices are used in numerous health and cosmetic applications including the treatment of dermatological conditions such as acne.

Commenting on his appointment Ron Jones said “the recent funding round provided Enfis with the collateral to execute the next stage of its growth plans. I am thrilled at the prospect of joining a team that time and time again has shown its ability to adapt sophisticated technology to the needs of markets and customers.”

"As somebody with a background in semiconductors I have been very impressed by Enfis’ technology,” stated Drew Nelson. “The core platform has a number of exciting applications. I see my task as helping the Board and management team to fulfil Enfis’ technological and revenue potential."
