Dr Gareth Jones - Chief Technical Officer

Gareth Jones is responsible for product innovation at Enfis. Prior to joining Enfis in 2002, he worked for six years at IQE, the world's largest optoelectronics epi-wafer manufacturer.

At IQE, he was product manager for all IQE laser diode and LED products and was responsible for major aspects of IQE' s laser and LED product business including management of business and technology development projects, introduction of new products and providing technical marketing input.

Gareth received a BSc and PhD degree in Physics from University of Surrey in 1990 and 1994 respectively. Following this, he served for 2 years as a postdoctoral research fellow and lecturer at Surrey leading the research on the optimisation and modelling of advanced optoelectronic devices such as laser diodes and optical amplifiers.

Gareth has over 15 years experience in the science and technology of semiconductor based optoelectronic components such as laser diodes and high brightness Multi-watt LED Light Engines and has published a number of papers in peer reviewed journals and presented at numerous international conferences. He has lectured in physics in the University of Surrey . He has served as advisor on UK panels concerned with the photonics and semiconductor industry.

Gareth is a Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, Lasers and Electro-Optics Society and the Optical Society of America. Gareth is a co-inventor on more than 10 patent applications relating to Multi-watt LED Light Engine applications, technology and systems.

Gareth is a member of the Welsh Opto-electronics Forum and contributes on the Council of the Welsh Electronics Forum.
