Operating Room Illumination
Operating Room Illumination
An operating room is a very demanding environment to illuminate. Enfis LED light engines and arrays have many technical and practical advantages over conventional halogen and gas discharge lamps which include, colour changeability, ‘shadowless’ light, extremely low heat generation when adequately thermally managed and extended light source lifetime.
By embracing new advances in controlling LEDs, Enfis is able to facilitate ‘colour mixing’ and changeable light characteristics, to be used by the surgeon, so they can change the colour temperature and colour rendering index to suit their own personal preferences during surgery.
There is no requirement to filter out any UV wavelengths and LEDs have an extremely long lifetime compared to conventional light sources. As an example a halogen bulb can last between 200-1,000 hours, Gas Exchange up to 5,000 hrs and various types of LED claiming a lifetime of between 8,000-20,000 hrs. Such a long lifetime eliminates the requirement for replacement bulbs and the associated down time of the OR room and maintenance costs.
